St. Geneve Bed Linen Care

St. Geneve recommends the following general care procedures for their duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases. Please be sure to read the care label on each item for best results.

Egyptian Cotton Bed Linen Care: Capri, Venice & Nico Organic Cotton:

  • Machine wash using moderate temperatures and gentle cycles in a small to moderate load.
  • Do not use ‘water saver’ settings, there should be enough water to allow your linens to "swim".
  • Use a mild soap such as Tide Free, Linen Wash, or Ivory.
  • Do not use any type of bleach or fabric softener.
  • Machine dry on gentle using a moderate temperature; do not over dry.
  • Iron using the appropriate fabric setting while the fabric is still slightly damp.
  • Do not use caustic soaps, bleaches, Persil, or Woolite detergents.
  • Sleep in nightwear made with natural fabrics; nightwear made with synthetic fibers is one of the biggest causes of pilling.
  • Do not launder with any articles that are heavy or coarse, they can scour the fabric.
  • Be cautious with acne medications and whitening toothpastes as they contain chemicals that will bleach almost everything.

MicroModal® Care: St. Geneve recommends the following care procedures for the Bellino Percale MicroModal® Bed Linens:

  • MicroModal® must be washed in cool water temperatures, separate from other fabrics.
  • Select a mild soap such as Tide Free, Linen Wash, or Ivory. Never use liquid fabric softener, bleach or any detergent containing bleach. Don't use color safe bleach, or bleach for the unbleachables. If you are not sure, it is best not to use the product. Make sure all soap is thoroughly rinsed out.
  • It is best to machine wash these bed linens on a gentle cycle without any other types of articles, in a small to moderate size load. Never wash with towels, blue jeans, or any other articles that can scour the surface of the fabric.
  • Do not use "water saver" settings. These fabrics will last much better if they have lots of water to swim around in. When water is limited, the fabrics will scrub against themselves. This is also why you should never overload the machine.
  • Machine dry on delicate at moderate temperatures, and do not over dry. You will be surprised at how quickly these fine fabrics dry. Remove immediately at end of cycle. If you wish to press, it is recommended that ironing be done while the fabric is still slightly damp.

Linen Care : St. Geneve recommends the following care procedures for their Linen Premier Bed Linens:

These recommendations are for St. Geneve linen products only. For other manufacturers, please refer to the items care label.

  • Launder whites, colors and prints separately.
  • Never use bleach, or detergents with optical brightening agents.
  • White linen may be washed Hot. Colored linens should be washed at medium temperatures.
  • Spin to extract excess water and stretch damp articles to natural size and shape before ironing.
  • Hot iron while still damp, on the wrong side
  • Avoid tumble drying, it's better to hang it to dry on a shower curtain rod where it will dry quickly.

Silk Care: St. Geneve recommends the following care procedures for their Silk Duvet Covers, Sheets & Pillow Cases:

St. Geneve Silk bed linens are machine washable, however St. Geneve recommends dry cleaning to retain the luster of the silk.  If you do prefer to machine wash your silk linens (they will lose some of their luster), please follow these instructions:

  • Use a gentle cycle, warm temperature, small load so that your silks can swim freely.
  • Do not wash your silk with any other items
  • Use a pure gentle soap, shampoo makes an ideal detergent for silk, or a soap that is specifically formulated for silk. St. Geneve does NOT recommend Woolite®
  • Do not use any type of bleach, fabric softener, pre-soaks, brighteners, enzyme detergents or alkaline detergents.
  • Machine dry on a delicate setting, cool temperature
  • Silk drys very quickly, so be careful not to over dry
  • Keep your silk away from acne medications or anything that may be alcohol based (alcohol can dissolve silk), such as: Perfumes, Hair Spray, Nail Polish Remover and Deodorant.

When storing fine bed linens, wrap in acid-free tissue paper or old sheets. Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area. Do not store in plastic bags, cedar chests or cardboard boxes and do not wrap in regular tissue paper. For prolonged storage, shift linens occasionally to change folded areas.
