Our Review of the Tempur-Pedic Luxe Breeze Mattress

This review is our opinion only. We purchased our Tempur-pedic Luxe Breeze mattress and have not been compensated in any way for this review.

This Tempurpedic mattress replaces another "memory foam" mattress, the Tuft & Needle mattress that we review here.   Next: We review another high-end mattress with more traditional construction, the Avocado Organic Luxury Mattress and last, but not least, the Intellibed Nightfall mattress.

We found the Tempurpedic Luxe Breeze to be very well made and very comfortable, with a couple of exceptions:  The effort it took to change position from back to side, side to back, stomach to side, etc. was considerable.  Probably not a big deal when you're younger and everything is easy.  But when you get to be of a "certain age",  the last thing you want your bed to be is another challenge to get from point A to point B.

I will note that I'm 6'7" and about 280 lbs.  I'm a side sleeper.  It may be that the Tempur-Pedic Luxe Breeze memory foam mattress does not perform it's best with people of my size.  I also think that this particular model has been updated since we purchased ours in 2020.

The other exception of note was the "cooling" fabric that covered the bed.  While attractive, it was also very textured.  The fabric was not soft, and the ridges were so pronounced and firm that you could feel them, even beneath a mattress protector.  We ended up using 2 protectors; our St. Dormier wool mattress protector over a regular mattress protector, and this was enough to minimize the feel of the large pronounced ridges in the mattress fabric that you can see in this photo:

A Sinking Feeling

The propensity to sink in to the Tempur-Pedic foam is well known, so I probably should not have been surprised by it.  What did surprise me was the fact that this really did hinder my enjoyment of the Tempur-Pedic Luxe Breeze mattress, and the quality of my sleep.

It wasn't just that the mattress formed a trough in the shape of my body.  To change position you have to roll out of the trough, essentially rolling uphill, out of the divot my body had created. I would wait for the mattress to adjust, feeling like I was balanced precariously on the peak of the trough, as the mattress slowly assumed the shape of my new sleeping position.

I will note that I'm 6'7" and about 280 lbs.  I'm a side sleeper.  It may be that the Tempur-Pedic Luxe Breeze memory foam mattress does not perform it's best with people of my size.  Maybe I sink in too much?   I also think that the ridged "cooling" fabric for this particular model has been updated since we purchased ours in 2020, so perhaps the ridges that were so uncomfortable have been improved.

The Luxe Breeze Helps Keep You Cool

The cooling fabric of the Tempur-Pedic Luxe Breeze mattress did a good job at what it was designed to do; help keep you from overheating. 

The Tempur-Pedic Ergo Extend Adjustable Base

This is an excellent adjustable base.  It's quiet - I've noticed that the electric motors on some adjustable bases are quite loud.  Our Ergo base is very quiet.  The base is very solidly built, with quality construction and materials. 

This base, like many others, has a massager.  You might like it.  I found it to be more of a gimmick.  The base also has USB ports, which is useful, and subtle underbed lighting which helps keep you from stubbing your toes when stumbling half asleep to the bathroom at 3am.  Very nice.

You may find the SleepTracker to be helpful, especially if you have sleep apnea and need to monitor the quality and health of your sleep.  It's easy to setup and will email you reports daily.
